Product Introduction

254SMO is a super austenitic stainless steel with excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion due to its high molybdenum content, making it particularly suitable for environments rich in halides, such as seawater. The design goal of this alloy is to cope with harsh corrosion conditions, and its corrosion resistance is significantly better than ordinary stainless steel, making it an ideal choice for the marine engineering, petrochemical, energy, and food industries.

In the chemical composition of 254SMO, the molybdenum (Mo) content ranges from 6.0% to 6.5%, which is the core of its corrosion resistance. Molybdenum can significantly improve the corrosion resistance of materials in chlorine containing environments, keeping them stable in seawater, oxygen-containing water bodies, low-speed scouring, and crevice environments, and preventing pitting corrosion from occurring. The content of nickel (Ni) ranges from 17.5% to 18.5%, which enhances its ability to resist stress corrosion cracking and exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in environments with high chloride ion concentrations. The chromium (Cr) content ranges from 19.5% to 20.5%, and the presence of chromium further enhances the material's resistance to uniform corrosion and oxidation.

254SMO is widely used in marine engineering, such as in seawater desalination equipment, seawater aquaculture systems, and seawater heat exchangers. In these applications, the high corrosion resistance of 254SMO enables it to effectively resist chloride ion erosion in seawater, extending the service life of the equipment. In the field of energy, it is used in flue gas desulfurization devices for thermal power generation and tidal power generation equipment, which are often in highly corrosive environments. 254SMO can provide long-term reliability and stability. In addition, in the petrochemical industry, such as refining and chemical treatment equipment, 254SMO can also cope with complex corrosive media and provide guarantees for the stable operation of equipment.

In addition, the high nitrogen content of 254SMO makes its mechanical strength higher than other austenitic stainless steels, while maintaining good ductility and impact strength. This makes it excellent in the food industry, such as salt and soy sauce brewing, as well as in bleaching equipment in the pulp and paper industry. Its high strength and good weldability mean that it can meet the structural requirements of high strength and corrosion resistance, and adapt to various harsh process environments.
